Short Biography
My love for computers began with a ping instruction. When I was 8, my uncle Aquilino took me to his office at the Mexico City’s International Airport to show me a computer. He told me that he could communicate with any other computers attached to the “network”, and he typed something on the keyboard and suddenly some information started appearing on the screen. He told me that he had established a communication with a computer in Paris, France. Later, he told me that he only did a ping to a computer from Paris, but everything had been changed for me. I wanted to be a Computer Scientist. So, I studied a Bachelor related with computing at Merida Institute of Technology in 1999, a Master of Science specialized in Artificial Intelligence at Veracruzana University in 2001, and a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering at the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (Cinvestav-IPN) in 2005. Both postgraduate studies were advised by Professor Carlos Coello.
After my graduation, I became an associate professor in the Graduate Program in Systems Engineering at Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, UANL (2006). Soon after, an opportunity to work in my alma mater (Cinvestav) appeared, and I could not refuse. Nowadays I work as an associate professor of the Graduate Program at Cinvestav Tamaulipas. In 2015, I took a sabbatical year at the COIN Lab at Michigan State University with Professor Kalyanmoy Deb.
My main research area is the devolopment of evolutionary-based methods for solving multiobjective problems.
